About Somer
Helping People Move Beyond Survival Mode
If you're considering therapy, chances are you've already spent a lot of time trying to figure things out on your own.
Maybe you've pushed through anxiety, carried the weight of trauma, struggled in your relationships, or spent so much time taking care of everyone else that you've forgotten how to take care of yourself. Maybe you've been in therapy before and gained insight, but never experienced the kind of meaningful change you were hoping for.
I believe therapy should be more than a place to talk. It should be a place where real change happens.
For more than a decade, I have worked with veterans, military families, caregivers, and individuals navigating some of life's most difficult challenges. Throughout that time, I've seen firsthand that people are often far more resilient than they realize. I've also learned that healing requires more than simply understanding what happened. It requires developing new ways of thinking, responding, connecting, and moving forward.
My approach is direct, compassionate, and focused on progress. I want my clients to leave therapy with more than validation. I want them to leave with skills, confidence, and a clearer path forward.
I specialize in working with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, caregiver stress, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. My practice is grounded in evidence based treatments that have been extensively researched and shown to create meaningful, lasting change. Rather than relying solely on supportive conversation, I use approaches designed to help clients actively work through the issues that are keeping them stuck.
Before opening Resurgence Therapy Collective, I spent years serving veterans, military families, and caregivers in a variety of clinical settings. That experience continues to shape the work I do today and has given me a deep appreciation for the unique challenges faced by those who serve, those who have served, and the families who support them.
One of the beliefs that guides my work is that therapy should create independence, not dependence. My goal is not to keep you in therapy forever. My goal is to help you build the skills, confidence, and resilience to no longer need me. Success is not measured by how long someone stays in therapy. Success is measured by whether they are living the life they want to live when therapy is no longer necessary.
Whether you're struggling with trauma, feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, navigating a difficult relationship, or simply feeling stuck, my goal is to help you move beyond survival mode and create a life that feels more meaningful, connected, and fulfilling.
You are capable of more healing and growth than you may realize. Sometimes the hardest part is simply taking the first step.
What It's Like to Work With Me
Clients often describe me as warm, direct, and practical. Therapy is a place to process difficult experiences, but it is also a place to create meaningful change. While understanding the past can be important, I believe therapy should help you build a better future.
My approach is collaborative and focused on progress. I will listen, support, and challenge you when appropriate. I believe in helping clients understand why they are struggling, but I also believe in helping them develop the skills, confidence, and perspective necessary to move forward.
I don't believe in a one size fits all approach to therapy. Every person brings a unique history, strengths, and challenges. Together, we will identify what is keeping you stuck and create a plan that aligns with your goals, values, and vision for your life.
Many of the people I work with are highly capable individuals who have spent years taking care of others, pushing through adversity, or carrying burdens on their own. They are often successful in many areas of life while privately struggling with anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, burnout, grief, or self doubt.
My role is not to tell you what to do. My role is to help you gain clarity, develop effective tools, challenge unhelpful patterns, and create lasting change.
Therapy should feel like a place where you are understood, respected, and challenged to grow. My goal is to provide that balance while helping you move toward the life you want to live.
